The AHA Heartsaver® First Aid / CPR / AED (Online + In-Person Skills) course teaches participants to provide first aid, perform high-quality CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively. Content is based on the latest American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

This course is designed for individuals with little or no medical training who need certification for workplace safety, OSHA compliance, regulatory requirements, or personal preparedness.

Blended Learning Format (2 Steps)

Step 1 – Online Coursework Complete the required self-paced online learning before attending the skills session.
Estimated Online Time: typically ~3 hours (varies by learner and course path).
Step 2 – In-Person Skills Session Instructor-led hands-on skills practice and testing.
Estimated Skills Time: ~2 hours (varies by class size and remediation).

Course Completion Card

After successful completion of both the online coursework and the hands-on skills session, students receive an AHA Heartsaver® Course Completion eCard, valid for 2 years.

Same Certification as In-Person: This blended option results in the same AHA Heartsaver® eCard as the traditional classroom course. Eligible students may receive their eCard the same day as the skills session when all requirements are completed.

U.S. Merchant Mariner Note (Optional): For mariner credentialing, this course may support issuance of additional USCG Elementary First Aid documentation (e.g., AMERHA-216) when the appropriate documentation is selected/required. This is not required for OSHA or general workplace certification.

Timing and same-day issuance depend on successful completion and verification of all required components.
